Sahih al-Bukhari

Imam Muhammad al-Bukhari · d. 256 AH / 870 CE

Revelation

History of the Book

Al-Bukhari sifted some six hundred thousand narrations over sixteen years, praying two units of prayer before entering each report. What survived his sieve became the second most consulted book in Islam, and its chapters on the salutation preserve the exact words the Companions asked for and were given.
